Jamworks, originally a Victorian Coach house, once
had a small factory at the rear. Over the past century it's courtyard
was covered over with a warehouse and the neighbouring property was
annexed with its garden also being covered, in part, by a warehouse.
Chrys and Simon have been living and working at The
Jam Factory for twelve years. The restoration project being a major
undertaking.
The Print Studio is approx 18m x 5.5.
There is an etching press and other
presses for relief printing and type. There is ample space to work with materials
at hand. The studio is both pratical and enjoyable place to work.
In 2002, as part of The Telegraph Hill Arts
Festival, the public was invited in to the studio for first time. Its
success prompted involvement in the Camberwell Artsweek, this, in turn
generated further interest and in response Chrys held a one day
printmaking workshops during the Arts week the following year.
Chrys has since continued to invite artists and
others keen to learn to use the print studio. She is able to provide
specialist teaching and instruction to small groups (usually 4 or 5)
and give demonstrations in various forms of monoprinting, relief and
intaglio techniques; this along with plenty of tea and biscuits seems
to inspire a wealth of creativity and productivity.
